Hello all!
The season has begun and your produce awaits your pick up! We are all so excited to have you apart of our program and hope that all the veggies this year go above and beyond your expectations of quality, variety and cleanliness. Each week I write a blog post/newsletter will include important updates, a meet your farmer blurb and a few tidbits of what we projects we have been working on. This is a weekly post. If you get your box on a different day, you’ll get a reminder email the day of. This year we will be sure to have a trade bin with a few items that you can trade out if you don’t want something included in the box items. It will most likely be more of another item from the box, but were flexible so just ask if you want something different.
I’m Alley, the Farmstand manager. For those of you who pick up at the farm, you’ll get a chance to meet me this afternoon. I love animals, the outdoors and food. This is my second Summer with Matt and Jacy. In my time here, I’ve learned many things. Greenhouse maintenance, sheep hoof trimming, animal husbandry and an array of cut flower species. I’m excited for this season because the Farmstand is more well known and we get to have a market style pick up (More on that later..).
The Farmstand is open Tuesday 9-6, Thurs/Sat 9-1. We only occasionally have eggs for purchase these days. Upick strawberries will be available in the next month or so. We have farm butchered roasting chickens, pork roasts, brats and kielbasa and lamb roasts for purchase as well.
Market style pick up is where you can bring your own bag, and go through our assembly line, grabbing the produce off whatever week’s list. This only goes for Farm pick up folks, not other locations. If you happen to miss the pick up window, premade boxes are located in the cold room for a couple days. If you miss your time at (for example) GVLT, you miss out on your box for that week. No exceptions.
