This week we have our crew member Jessica telling you about her experience with us.

I am excited to be working on the education staff this summer and helping with the flower CSA at Rocky Creek farm. I was a CSA member for the last few years and I love getting the opportunity to be a part of the process and the behind the scenes. Summer camps are in full swing and it has been so much fun teaching the kids about the farm. The education staff has worked hard to design a program that we ourselves would have been overjoyed to be a part of as children, that focuses on hands-on, experiential learning. I never thought I would be learning to butcher a chicken or making gorgeous flower bouquets but it has been an amazing experience working here with so many passionate people.

I have been getting lots of good questions about kohlrabi! It is one of the least used veggies in my box each week but I still try to get creative with it. Crisp apple, gouda cheese and kohlrabi star in this recipe. Something else that may be new to you is fennel, fronds or bulb! I love chopping the bulb into my salads, cooking down in apple cider for jam or nibbling on the fronds as a snack. Oh, just as a heads up, the Asian greens are slightly spicy!
