Hello Whole Farm CSAers!

With Summer 2022 CSA over and done with and Winter 22/23 CSA not starting until November, the next few weeks of CSA are for Whole Farm members only. So a few Whole Farm specific notes and announcements:

  • Chickens for this month are ready to be picked up in the front freezer. This month’s chickens are roasting chickens, covered in your CSA payment at a lower cost.

  • All CSAs will be in boxes in the cold room through the end of the month.

  • Cider: Full share receives 12 half gallons and half share gets 6. Please tally how many you take on the weekly checkoff sheet.

  • Pumpkins. Full share gets 4 and half share gets 2. Same as cider for checking off.

  • Beginning in November, Wednesdays will be the new market style pickup day.

Other farm news:

  • Fall festival is in full swing! Market stand is open Tuesday-Sunday and hay rides and pumpkin patch are going Fridays 1-5pm, Saturdays 9-5pm, and Sundays 10-3pm. Sign up for a time here.

  • For the month of October, our education team is offering Friday afternoon fun! Harvest inspired crafts and activities from 4-5pm. No sign-up needed, pay what you can ($5 suggested).

Produce:

  • Leeks! Who can resist a potato leek soup when you’ve got both in the box.

  • Purple potatoes make a wonderful and colorful addition to a fall salad. Simply roast yours up with salt and pepper and toss them in throughout the week.

  • Put your chicken to good use with this collard greens recipe. When cooked like this, collards take on an incredibly silky texture that makes for an amazing side.

That’s all for this week. Enjoy your boxes!
