Howdy!
This cool weather has been amazing! I’ve been loving the much needed break from our hot summer days.
I was out in our raspberry field yesterday and was thrilled to see tons of berries ripening up. Please come by and pick some fresh raspberries, and—as always—lots and lots of flowers!
I’m excited to hand over this weeks newsletter to Erin, our vegetable harvest manager. She’s going to tell you all about what goes on at GVB, as well as some things to look forward to in this weeks CSA.
Allow me to officially introduce myself, Erin, your harvest manager for the 2023 season! With years of experience working on farms throughout Montana I can confidently say that this farm truly holds something special. Over the years, my love for farming has deepened, and I am privileged to lead a remarkable team that shares the same passion for growing wholesome food and building a sustainable community. It is our collective goal to provide you with the freshest produce while fostering a sense of connection to the land and each other.
Our small yet mighty team of passionate individuals has been exceptional this season, working under sun, rain, and everything in between to ensure the quality and abundance of our produce. From the early morning hours harvesting to the late evenings spent tending the fields, their unwavering commitment is truly remarkable. Without their hard work, none of this would be possible. So lets take a moment to express our gratitude for the incredible crew that makes it all happen!
And of course, the best part! What you all eagerly await each week…in this weeks CSA box, you will find:
Curly green kale, red beets, vibrant cherry tomatoes, fresh parsley, flavorful red long of tropea onions, beautiful zucchinis, crunchy cucumbers, satisfying beans, and our long awaited first harvest of potatoes!
My first thought on what the heck to cook with all this delicious produce was digging down to my potato farming Ukrainian-Canadian ancestors with a spin on the classic Perogi. Traditionally, perogies are essentially dumplings filled with cheesy mashed potatoes and onions, but in our case we get to add in some zucchini, beets, beans, and anything else in your box! I’ve linked a traditional recipe, but please feel free to add or substitute whatever you’d enjoy to these mouth watering pillows of joy!

We are immensely grateful for your support and trust in what we do. Your continued enthusiasm fuels our passion for nurturing this land and bringing you this beautiful produce.
With gratitude,
Erin Knight
I hope everyone has been enjoying our summer CSA season as much as I have. It’s amazing to watch all of our produce grow and develop as we nurture it for harvest. As always, I love talking to you guys about what you’ve been doing with all of these gorgeous veggies, please don’t hesitate to come to me with any questions, ideas, or suggestions.
Have a great week everyone,
Emma
