It has been a busy and exciting week on the farm as spring preparations are fully underway! Seeding for flowers and veggies continues to take place on both sides of the farm. We got to put the first flower sprouts into the ground in the greenhouse on the Rocky Creek side of the farm this week as well. We also received our next round of layer hen chicks this week! It is amazing to see how much they can grow in the span of a day and to see their rambunctious selves become faster and stronger! Growth is happening all around us, and it brings a sense of new beginnings and joy as we look toward the warmer months!
We would also like to extend a warm welcome to our new Education Director, Mellanie Lerum! Mellanie is stoked for the upcoming programs and is looking forward to meeting everyone soon. Registration for the May Farm School program opens this Friday, so be sure to sign up if your kiddo is interested!
In your CSA boxes this week, you will find loads of fresh greens. You will also find two wonderfully fragrant and tasty herbs: parsley and dill. Parsley is known for its health benefits in improving bone health and being a preventative for many diseases. Dill is packed full of Vitamin C and is a powerful antioxidant. You will find some delicious recipes for incorporating these herbs into favorite dishes below!
