December 18 Whole Farm and Winter CSA
Happy holidays to all! As a reminder, the farm will be closed next week for the holidays! There will be no CSA box or pick up next week, and we will resume the week of January 1st to ring in the new year.

We are farming in a winter wonderland! The freshly fallen snow from the weekend has cast a sparkly holiday glow here at Rocky Creek. It’s not too late to buy your season pass to the nordic ski trails here at the farm. Matt has started grooming, and we are looking forward to an awesome season of being outside. Matt does put out a grooming report on the website: Rocky Creek Nordic Trails. We still have dried flower and evergreen wreaths for sale in our market stand, as well as dried bouquets that could add that last pop of color to your holiday decorations. As winter has finally arrived, things at the farm are beginning to mellow out for the season, allowing us farmers to organize, and make note of things from last season in order to start preparing for spring seeding and planting in the new year! We are looking forward to 2025 and are excited to start seeding and continue tending to our greenhouses after the holiday season. We hope your holidays are filled with time spent with loved ones, yummy food on your table, and loads of joy! Thank you all for a great 2024 season!
Your CSA box this week was designed with holiday gatherings in mind! We’ve included fresh greens that would be great in a variety of dishes, and can also serve as a festive garnish. You will also find a long pie pumpkin in your box that would be perfect for some holiday baking. We have also included a jar of dried basil that we grew this season on the farm as a special holiday gift for all you CSA members! Thank you for helping to make our holiday season special, and we hope yours is the same!

Farmer cooking tip!
I LOVE to roast the whole head of garlic to add extra flavor and creamy texture to dishes! Simply chop the top off the garlic head (including the very tips of the garlic cloves), drizzle with olive oil, wrap in tin foil, and roast in the oven until soft! Once cool, you can pinch the bottom of the garlic head to squeeze out your roasted garlic from each clove. Hope you enjoy this easy way to add that burst of garlic flavor to your favorite meals!
Happy holidays and well wishes into the new year!
