Thank you CSA for your continued support. This wraps up our 19th year farming and providing food for our community! We have posted the Winter CSA online. After we spend the month of October harvesting all the winter crops we start putting together weekly boxes from the beginning of November to the end of January. These boxes include all the great storage crops and greens from our greenhouses! If you don’t need the weekly box we will be at the Bozeman Winter Farmers Market starting in November, and keep checking our website for winter market stand hours. Here is one last note from Adam, our Education Director and Farmer.

Thank you, Matt and Jacy

Hey there CSA members, my name is Adam and I am the Education Director here on the farm. Wow, I can’t believe the summer CSA is in its final week! Thinking back on the summer it’s incredible to picture everything that our campers and students have taken part in. They have truly engaged with the farm from all angles: harvesting cucumbers and carrots and squash and rainbow chard, making pickles and sauces and jams and bouquets, collecting invertebrates from the creek, surveying our wild birds, feeding the pigs, collecting eggs, moving sheep, and making art from anything we can find. I hope you all know that as CSA members, your support not only benefits the farm directly, but also provides a crucial backdrop for experiential learning for all of those campers. So, from the whole education staff, thank you all so much!

For this final week of CSA I’d like you all to take a moment and reflect on the produce you’ve eaten and enjoyed throughout this long, hot summer. What meals were the most memorable? Did any vegetables just look so enticing they got gobbled up right away, and never made it into the fridge? How about those uniquely bizarre veggies, like entwined carrots dancing duets, blobby tomatoes with strange growths, or just your average kohlrabi? Picture those beautiful products of organic production!

In this final week, perhaps consider a celebratory meal for the end of summer! Here’s what I would do: Roast that spaghetti squash (cut in half) with olive oil, salt, pepper, and chile flakes on top. Meanwhile, roast up those parsnips, beets, and fennel with light seasoning as well. When the squash is cooked, pull the innards with a fork into their eponymous spaghetti strands, and mix in those roasted veggies. Make a simple salad on the side, perhaps a nice crusty bread, and voila! A fully farm meal that really lets you taste the final vegetables of summer. Most importantly, share this meal with friends or family, and take some time to reflect on the season.

Once again, thank you all so much for an amazing CSA season!
